Clovis, New Mexico was incorporated in 1909 as a farm and ranch area located on the high plains of eastern New Mexico. Today the city's economy is based on ranching, farming, the dairy industry and the railroad. Also contributing to the community's economy is Cannon Air Force Base, home of the F-16.
This flourishing community supports many annual events and activities. Softball and basketball tournaments, Cannon Air Show, Dirt Track Racing, Music Festival, Car Show, and many other events designed for all ages. Clovis is very proud of their purple and white 4-A fighting Wildcats. Another famous attraction in Clovis is the Norman and Vi Petty Studios where the late Buddy Holly once recorded.
