Santa Fe, New Mexico is one of the great destination cities of the world. For tourists, meeting planners and business people alike, Santa Fe provides an unparalleled quality of life, making it a desirable location for your next vacation getaway, convention or ski trip. Follow the links from this site to vacation, culture and business resources and learn more about the good life to be found in the southern Rockies.
Santa Fe is nestled in the foothills, at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains at an altitude of 7,000 feet. The city occupies 33.4 square miles in a valley above the Río Grande amongst mountains that reach to more than 12,000 feet. Thousands of acres of national forest and wilderness surround the city, and yet it is only an hour's drive to the Albuquerque International Airport. Known as the "City Different," Santa Fe supports both historic culture and modern technology, while offering an outstanding quality of life for both young and old. It is the oldest state capital in the country, founded in 1610, and at one time all lands west of the Mississippi were governed from the Palace of the Governors on the Santa Fe Plaza.
Shop the galleries and unique clothing and gift shops on Canyon Road or in the newly opened Railyard district abutting downtown Santa Fe. Many historic churches and museums await the visitor, including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, which owns more than 1,000 original works by the artist, and the Museum of International Folk Art, boasting a collection of more than 100,000 objects from more than 100 countries. There are festivals year-round in Santa Fe, ranging from the Traditional Spanish Market and Indian Market in the summer to the Santa Fe Fiesta and Wine and Chile Fiesta in the fall, and Santa Fe Film Festival, ushering in the wintertime ski season.
