Photo Contest

Winning Perspectives

Timing. Technique. Talent. Vision. Such qualities are abundantly evident in this outstanding portfolio from the winners of the 11th annual New Mexico Magazine Photo Contest. For this year's contest, we received more than 1,000 images from 221 photographers, from within New Mexico and beyond. Our judges were Reid Callanan, director of Santa Fe Photo Workshops; Greg Mac Gregor, fine-art photographer; and Fabian West, art director of New Mexico Magazine. The grand prize winner received a $1,000 gift certificate from Heritage Hotels and Resorts. First place winners in each category received a $250 gift certificate to Santa Fe School of Cooking.

Your Stories

Centennial Memoirs

We asked you to share your personal histories from the first 100 years of New Mexico's statehood and you answered! We received more than 200 stories, from caring for Smokey the Bear to the first winner of Miss Northern Navajo, and from playing polo with Peter Hurd to living in a dugout. We published 14 this month, but we'll include many more wonderful contributions in future months. Read "Tell Us Your Story".
